After drifting out of his current band, Ivor must face that window cleaning is no longer
his day job - it's his only job; he's not going to be a rock star after all. This, despite
having played in such ground-breaking punk bands as S.O.A. with Henry Rollins, Faith, and
Embrace with Ian Mackaye.
Between stints washing the windows of celebrities, using the service entrance to famous
New York City landmark buildings, and attending a change-your-career serminar that his father,
a retired admiral, strongly urges him to sign up for, Ivor reflects on where he has been, what
he is doing, and where he wants to go.
Life on the Ledge is a tale of risk, punk music, voyeurism, identity - and clean
windows.

"If Ivor Hanson had merely been one of the key pioneers in the D.C. punk scene of the
eighties, that would have been enough to cement his legacy as a true innovator. But who
knew that he was also a writer of no small skill and talent? In this memoir, Hanson tackles
the questions of how one discovers worth and meaning in one's life with all the dexterity
of a master drummer, and all the balance he learned living life on the ledge."
-Brian Cogan
